A variety of stories by Jon Lewis (with some written by Leo Geistler). They are usually strange, and frequently very funny. There’s two series, “The Frost Changes,” full of Scandinavian folklore, false beards, reclusive rock stars, and musical hexes, and “The Shell Men,” a postapocalypse story in which animals talk and humans don’t, which is shaping up to be a major feat of the imagination. “Springing (A Society Farce),” about an ill-assorted group of roommates, is also notable, and there are other, shorter stories about possums and gators and getting up early.
